Cardiovascular Ultrasound Scanning available in hospitals in Germany

There is no doubt that if you can pay for a procedure privately, then there is more of a chance that you will be seen much sooner. Procedures such as ultrasound scanning are now available in hospitals in Germany. Ultrasound scanning is also referred to as sonography or imaging.
The good thing about ultrasound imaging is that they do not use any ionising radiation, which is usually used in x-rays. This is why ultrasound scanning is usually used during pregnancy, to check the health of the baby at both 12 weeks and again at 20 weeks.

Ultrasound scanning is usually carried out by radiologists and used to diagnoses problems with the heart and other such organs.

What an ultrasound is used for:

· Ultrasound is usually used as a way of evaluating the circulatory system through the body and within common procedures such as the cardiovascular system.
· An ultrasound can help to identify and locate any blockages which exist (the medical term for this is stenosis) and identify abnormalities such as emboli or plaque.
· It is also a good way of identifying any blood clots which exist (this is referred to as DVT).

How do I get an Ultrasound

· Firstly you will need a referral letter from either a GP or consultant in order to have the examination, even though you are paying privately you will still need to have one of these referral letters – this letter should outline the symptoms.
· Once you have the referral letter, you will then be booked in as and when the hospital has a radiologist available to do this procedure. It is usually that these consultants only work on certain days within the hospital.

Before choosing a private hospital to go through for the procedure, it is always worth checking out the customer reviews on the hospitals website.
